On 3.30.2026 the Geauga County GOP held a candidates night at the Metzenbaum Center in Chesterland, Ohio. It was a very well attended event. Even the chairman of the Democrat Party was there say, “our party has no one to run and things are boring” so I thought I would come see what the GOP has going…”

There were about 150 citizens and Republican central committee members present. Those candidates for a variety of races drove long distances to garner Geauga County votes. Many legacy or incumbent candidates choose not to attend. Some sent a spokesperson.
This reporter received comments from participants saying it appeared legacy candidates didn’t care about the voters of Geauga. It will be interesting to see if those same legacy candidates attend the League of Women voters candidate night. Many citizens have expressed concerns that the LWV candidate is biased and manipulated. While the LWV’s claim to be nonpartisan reviewing their website and their position statements clearly make it clear they are far from nonpartisan.
